When my first child Liza was about 8 months old, I got her a few latch boards from a very  well-known brand. I love the idea that children can start practising their motor skills from an early age. Unfortunately, those latch board did not work well as she was tripping over them, she also refused to sit at the table and play with them more than 5 minutes. Those latch boards ended up in the storage… I then came across wall panels with all sort of house appliances, and they looked good! However,  in Singapore it’s rare to be able to dedicate the whole wall (or even part of it) to such activity boards. Also, it is not mobile. 

My engineering brain didn’t want to give up and Liza was my biggest inspiration. I thought: what if I can create a wooden box, with thematic panels and ensure that it is mobile? I continued my research and saw similar ideas (or attempts), but I didn’t like them because they were messy and loud… with lots of little toys attached to them which kids are likely to already have at home…
